Have you ever bought anything you don't need just for the competition??

posted 15-12-2016 @ 08:28 AM www

I bought Balance Nutrition Whey from go vita health shop. Stupendous waste of money, especially now that the ten grand travel voucher competition just disappeared without a trace and no actual winner was ever announced. Very unpalatable product & went straight down sink. Think I'll just stick to non-purchase 25wol in future.

I donate what we don't use. Our local animal rescue is happy to have all the cat and dog food, plus the Aqium hand sanitiser products.

I,ve just put a query into our local store, so will let you know if they find out anything. I also entered and I hate when you feel like you have wasted your money.....

Yup, went absolutely nuts with the KitKat competition a few years back and was lucky enough to win a table which I still use daily - it was a winwin because I love chocolate

I have bought cat food to enter a comp when I don't have a cat. Nor do I have a donation bin nearby so I ended up leaving the tins on the curb knowing someone would pick them up and take them home.
I knew hubby would go balistic if I came home with something else that we would never use :lol::lol:

I've just re-read this thread right through and it was very interesting noting back to when we all had to send barcodes in. Unheard of now!:D I can remember further back to when you had to send whole labels in (before everything had a barcode on it), and I would have a pantry full of unlabelled tins. I did mostly mark them with a texta so I knew what they contained:D

Hahaha ... been there, done that. Sometimes we had "mystery" meals ... never knew what was going to be in the cans.

Same as you buffy13. Can always find a good home for them.
Probably more than half of my comp purchases are products I don't usually buy at all.
I do find junk food comps (Chips, lollies and chocs) are a necessary evil. As a comper, I buy them to enter - and then eat them! Sadly, they rarely make it to give or share with anyone! I normally resist the temptation to buy and consume them unless there is a comp attached to them. As for soft drinks, the odds and prizes have to be right up there for me to consider a purchase in them. Finding a home for it is trickier than I thought. Goes flat if stored. Would never consider drinking it. Have been known to pour bottles down the sink.
Energy drinks - I hate purchasing for an entry, but get 1 token entry in anyway. Guilt in finding a home for them due to how insanely bad they are for you. Another drink for the sink. Looking much closer at odds and prizes on these.

I see you're in Vic. Hopefully somewhere near me. Don't throw away soft drink, I have 3 boys who are soft drink fanatics.
As for energy drinks. None of us drink them, but my friends hubby works at a hospital and he gives them to security who love them. So I buy a couple of cans for a comp and security get a free drink to pep them up on a night shift at the hospital.
